MUSIC.

In its different manifestations, music is an outstanding chapter in Canary culture, where particularly traditional music has evolved from the first dwellers of the island up to the present day.

All the different patterns that enrich it are a product of the archipelago’s geography and the presence of the three continents that have influenced it for centuries.

Naturally the globalisation process is not amiss when the differences between the popular and the cultural issues are faced. The most difficult point of this situation is to find a compromise.

The traditional genres, which are deeply rooted, are many, from the “Barajaste” –one of the aboriginal legacies- up to the “Seguidilla” and others that maintain their popularity and are the pride of the Canary people.

The large musical variety includes many forms that cannot be heard in the rest of Spain, and many boast of the particular instruments used and even of the suggestive way of dancing.
